Presentation at Whitley City Middle School
January 23, 2004
Because of an overcast sky, we started the presentation at the
Whitley City Middle School in McCreary County, Kentucky in the school library.
Adam Bryant gave a talk on Mars with a PowerPoint presentation. Chuck Valentine
gave a talk about telescopes and answered questions with the help of Anita
Walker. Afterwards the sky had cleared so we went outside set up the 6" Cave
scope for viewing. We thank everyone who attended with a special thanks to the
WCMS principal, Eugina Jones for inviting us.

16" Cave Reflector
July 5, 2001
Our pride and joy for a while, this 16" Cave Reflector was a
beast to handle and set-up. For this reason we sold it, but kept it's 6" finder scope
and made a Dobsonian mount for it. Shortly thereafter Thomas Cave died and now the
Cave line of scopes are rapidly becoming collectors items.

Moving the scope for viewing. |
We heard that having models pose with a telescope makes astronomy sexier. |
Don't look at the sun with a telescope! |
Telescopes seem to work better at night. |
| We all got to view
Mars through the scope at least once, although stabilization problems and
our view location prevented prolonged viewing. |
